SEAR Labs

SEAR is an independent lab that tests whether frontier AI agents can be shut down: whether they stop when an authorised operator tells them to, and whether they leave the off switch alone while they work.

What we work on

• Shutdown evaluations. How agents respond when they are told to stop in the middle of a task.
• Operator authentication. Cryptographic Identification, a protocol that lets an agent check whether an instruction really comes from its operator.
• Open data. We publish the full transcripts behind our results.
